My 2025 Fall Fun List

My 2025 Fall Fun List

It’s officially fall! (Someone tell my weather app.) I really enjoyed having a summer fun list. It helped me keep having fun top of mind in a season that is not my favorite. While I enjoy fall much more than summer, cooler weather alone isn’t enough to constitute fun. So I’m creating a fall fun list to help me stay on track with the fun!

Watch Football

I’m a UGA grad, and I used to both love and dread football season, when hours of my Saturday would be taken up with watching the Dawgs play. I came up with more and more tasks I could complete during this time (menu planning! bill paying! online shopping!) until eventually I wasn’t really watching the game at all. Also, as the years passed, the stakes seemed lower and lower. Sure, we won a national championship two years in a row, but the next season will just come again.

So I lost interest. But I’m realizing that I miss it. It was a fun activity I could share with my husband. And my kids are starting to have at least a little interest in learning about the game too. So we’ll take them to a game or two for the high school associated with their elementary school. And maybe I’ll pick a couple of games to actually watch with my husband. (Maybe we’ll even watch with friends too.)

Do Fall-ish LEGO Sets

My husband got me this Sherlock Holmes LEGO set, and I’ve been saving it for fall. (Also it took me all summer to finish my last set.) But this one definitely has a fall vibe. Does it get an cozier than building a library out of LEGO?

If I finish it before the season is over, I might splurge and build another library with this Jane Austen set. It will be the perfect addition to my Pride and Prejudice collection.

Read Fall Magazines

I already got ahead of myself and read my fall issue of Victoria during the false fall we had a few weeks ago. I’m excited to dive into Real Simple and a few others as the weather cools off for real. But I do miss the absolutely massive September issues of fashion magazines—RIP InStyle. I might take myself down to Barnes & Noble and scope out a couple one-off options just for the season.

Update My Fall Wardrobe

Fall fashion in the South is so tricky. I want to be cozy, but it’s just so hot. I’ve done some seasonal wardrobe swaps and don’t have a lot of good transitional pieces. I also don’t have any cute UGA-themed gear for the aforementioned football watching fun. (Gone are my days of wearing black-and-white sundresses while I melted in the stadium.) I’d love to find a cute t-shirt.

I’ve mostly given up on online shopping these days, but taking myself clothes shopping feels like a Whole Big Thing. However, every time I do it, I’m a) glad I did it and b) pleasantly surprised that it didn’t take all day. I just need to put it on the calendar and treat it like a (fun) appointment.

Read Fall Books

I’m not a diehard about seasonal reads, but I like to incorporate it when I can. This fall, I’m ready to dive back into some mystery series. I’m really looking forward to Louise Penny’s next release, The Black Wolf. I’d like to try Lauren Nossett’s sophomore release, The Professor, set at my alma mater. And I’ve been eagerly anticipating the next tome in J.K. Rowling’s Detective Strike series, The Hallmarked Man. I realized too late that I could hop on my library’s hold list before it released and am currently starting down a 22-week wait. Given that these books are typically in the 900+ page range, I doubt many readers will be returning it early and shortening that wait. So if I want to actually read this one in the fall, I might have to shell out the cash for it.

Enjoy Fall Flavors

I’m currently in the process of taking a break from coffee (ugh), so a PSL is definitely out this year. I did try this Teeccino Almond Amaretto Chicory alternative, and it’s actually pretty good! There is a pumpkin spice version that I might try next.

Other fall treats abound. Give me all the pumpkin and apple and caramel and cinnamon. I’m interested in scooping, er, scoping out Jeni’s new ice cream flavors, especially caramel apple crumble. (Ice cream is great any time of year.) Our local ice cream shop had a Halloween-candy-themed ice cream that was delicious last year. I’ve seen some intrepid bakers making pumpkin sourdough bread that looks intriguing. And I’m a sucker for a warm cup of apple cider.

Take a Fall Trip

We have a fall mountain vacation planned. Alas, it’s not Disney, but I’m sure we’ll still have a great time! I’m hoping we’ll get to see some beautiful leaves and enjoy some good family time. It might be a great opportunity for some s’mores and/or apple cider (those sound gross together to me personally). I’m not a purist about s’mores, so if you have any ideas to make them more fall-themed, share them in the comments! (Perhaps a Reese’s pumpkin instead of the chocolate?) We’ll bring some games and watch some movies and hopefully have a cozy time together!

Little Golden Book

I didn’t realize that Gilmore Girls had taken fall hostage, but if Lorelei says so, it must be true. Perhaps I’ll rewatch a couple favorite episodes as part of my fall fun. Or I can read A Stars Hollow Celebration! to spend time in my favorite fictional small town.

My kids are busy with lots of their own fun, so I’m not planning to ask for a specific fall fun list from them. They’ll enjoy vacation and football and fall flavors too though! I’ll be trying to squeeze my fall fun in between driving them to their fall activities. (Maybe I need to come up with some fall fun for the car.)

What’s on your fall fun list? What’s your best s’more hack? Did you know that Gilmore Girls had taken fall hostage—and is that why it’s still so hot out? Let me know in the comments—I love hearing from you!
